Global Leadership Principles and Competencies Paper
As we continue to forge into the 21st century, the world is becoming a smaller and smaller place. Global interactions are more and more commonplace, and as organizations and businesses more regularly conduct business in a global market, it is imperative that leaders understand the importance of cultural awareness and acquire the necessary principles/competencies to effectively lead in the global context.
Given our discussions the last few weeks, identify the global leadership competencies/principles of a leader in your work life. This leader can be yourself or someone you work with/for. Select two global leadership competencies (Mendenhall) and two global leadership principles (Clark) and describe how these principles and competencies “influence” or dictate this leader’s performance in the workplace. Although your work place may not be “global” it should not be difficult to identify his/her awareness and principles/competencies (or lack thereof).
- Identify two global leadership principles and how these principles influenced how the leader leads in the workplace.
- Identify two global leadership competencies displayed by the leader, and how they impact the leader’s effectiveness as a leader in the workplace.
- Give examples of these principles and competencies in the workplace and how well (or not) the leader performed.
Paper should be 4-5 pages, and there is no maximum to the number of references. They should be included in APA format and you should include at least 4-5 references for your paper.
