After reading the following definition about Portability please answer the following questions in you own words.
Will the software be compatible with current office hardware?
Is the ‘Portability’ useful in its application to various projects using different platforms or other software programs in the office?
Portability-(Definition)
- Portability- the ability of a software program to run with little or no modifications on a different hardware and/or software platform, or the ability to work with different versions of the same program. An example would be- software written in ‘Java script’
- Ability to carry a benefit, interest or right (such as pension benefits) from one environment (such as a pension plan) to another.
When building out or looking into updating a company’s IT Infrastructure the company must consider portability.
