Our rights are fundamental and sweeping. They are not absolute, however, I argue we must be responsible in the exercise of our rights. Doing physical harm or other injuries should be avoided.

Assignment
Explain why the First Congress set this one first in the Bill of Rights. Do you think these rights are conditional? What restrictions, if any, should be placed upon the press, speech, religious tolerance, assembly and right to petition? How have these rights been safeguarded over the past 230 years? Any infractions?
