Directions for OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION RESEARCH PAPER: Occupation is Human Resource Manager
This is a research paper designed to help you locate reliable information about the occupation of your choosing.
It should contain no direct quotes, however you WILL be using in-text cites to summarize the data you gather from your resources on your particular occupation. In other words, do not “cut and paste” information you find online–it should be summarized and organized within your paper using appropriate headings.
Also, there should be no subjective materialwhatsoever in this paper. Subjective material would include “why you want to work in this field” or “what you think about this occupation”. If your sentence begins with “I”, it’s subjective. Your paper must include the following information about one occupation (preferably an occupation you would like to have or are considering):

1. Description of the position
2. Education/credentials required
3. Five most important skills required for this position
4. Salary data (nationwide & regional/state-wide)
5. Occupational outlook and forecast
6. Typical job settings
Professional Development
1. Two related professional organizations
2. Two related professional journals
3. Similar occupations
Current job openings
1. Locate 3 job ads for this occupation and attach to paper as a separate attachment.
The paper should be written using APA format and should include a minimum of three sources. Use headings to separate information by topic. (Good sources for occupational information include the Occupational Outlook Handbook distributed by the Department of Labor (it can be viewed online); Salary.com, Careerinfonet.com, etc..)
Job ads can be located online through multiple resources such as Careerbuilder.com and Indeed.com.. You do not need to include job ads on your Resources page; you will, however, need to cite sources that you use to compile occupational data. This paper should be based on researchable data ONLY and not include any opinion or “self-knowledge” based on your personal experience. The paper should be 2 pages in length, not including your Resources page or attached job ads
