Assignment

From 1940 to present, project management has continuously advanced from line managers using a small set of processes that were considered nice to have to the formal assignment of one individual assigned as the project manager that utilized a formal methodology by which to manage the project. Often the term “best practices” is referenced within a defined methodology. Why must an organization capture best practices? What are the determining factors in baselining a best practice? Can an organization have too many best practices? What are the impacts of establishing too many best practices that are mandated by senior management for use on all projects? Provide one example of a project management best practice. (Video Lecture 2 and independent research)

Plagiarism

Three common types of plagiarism you need to be aware of as a student:

  • Recycling a paper; “double-dipping”; self-plagiarism: Reusing a paper you have written for a previous course
  • Copying directly from a source without proper quotations or paraphrasing: When you try to pass something off as your own work
  • Not using proper citations

According to the Academic Integrity and Academic Dishonesty Handbook:

Your paper should have at least 80% of your own original thought, not “borrowed, paraphrased [or] quoted” from material pulled from the Internet, articles, journals, books, etc. Your thoughts, not someone else’s!

Please review the Handbook for more examples of plagiarism and how to avoid it.

The written assignments must be a minimum of 3-5 well written paragraphs consisting of 5-7 sentences per paragraph, word count of 500-849 earns between 12-24 points out of a possible 30 points, this meets the minimal requirement per the grading rubric. Please make sure you proof your assignment and correct any typos. Be sure to use reference material correctly and minimize quotes. All written assignments will be automatically submitted through Turnit.com to validate originality. Part of your grade for the written assignment is based on the percentage of similarity reported by Turnit.com. The higher the percentage of similarity, the less points you will earn. So please use references, but be sure to build on the topic with your own wording.
