Research ways that Information Systems have been misused.
Using the Internet, find an example of an organization that has misused
Information Systems. Post your response to the discussion board. Respond to the
following questions and, if appropriate, include personal experience as part of
your answers:
• Write a brief summary (250 words or less) of the example
you researched.
• Identify the level of the organization where the misuse
primarily occurred.
• Explain how this impacted other levels of the
organization.
• Explain how your example highlights the importance of
information at various levels of an organization.
Unit 2 discussion
What is the purpose of Porter’s five forces model? Support
your argument with an example of a strong force and an example of a weak force.
Be sure to support your example by explaining why it was a strong force or a
weak force using Porter’s five forces model as a guide. If you have personal
experience related to Porter’s five forces model, please include that in your

research with a review of your lessons, and then, apply this research to the

application and include how this resource can help an organization manage
important aspects of its business.
Unit 5 discussion
Research the major risks for businesses that indulge in
commercial applications of social networking. Also, review the readings on page
311 of your textbook about how organizations can respond to social networking
problems. Organizations may respond to social networking problems in one of
three ways:

In this discussion, identify a major problem for an
organization that participates in social networking, and then discuss how the
organization should respond to that problem.
Unit 6 discussion
Research the process of system development life cycle.
Discuss some of the problems of the SDLC and how agile development intends to
address these problems. Support your answer with an example of an agile
development technique.
Unit 7 discussion
Outsourcing can appear too good to be true, and some of the
benefits of outsourcing can be outweighed by its long-term costs. Conduct some
research on the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing. Using what you
learned from your research, discuss an example of how the benefits of outsourcing
are outweighed by its long-term costs.
Unit 8 discussion
Identify an assignment in this course that had a positive
impact on you. How will you be able to apply the skills you learned from it to
gain life and/or career success?
