MBA Program Competency: Valuing diverse perspectives,Ethical
decision making
For this assignment, each member of the cohort will:
a) Select an organization from the list provided in Week 2
Content. Indicate your choice by posting it in Week 2 Topic #1. Be sure no one
else has already selected your firm. You will be using the same organization
for both weeks 2 and 8 but your focus will be different in each assignment.
b) Evaluate and analyze your chosen organization’s responses
to diversity and multiculturalism using a guide provided in Week 2 Content.

c) Prepare and post the report on your assessment by
midnight Tuesday July 19. Post your
report as a response to the week 2 discussion topic.
d) Come to our Wednesday July 20 onsite meeting prepared to
contribute to a follow-up all-cohort discussion that critically analyzes the
implications of the cohort’s findings for organizations in general and for the
ones you have studied in particular.
Rather than engage in one-on-one comparisons, work together as a cohort
to discover patterns that emerge when all of your findings and observations are
examined. Discuss the likely implications of things the companies you studied
have in common and also of things where this is not the case. You may find, for
example, that many of the larger firms the cohort members study have created
affinity groups to help support particular employee groups. If you discover
this is the case then it will be important to critically examine both the pros
and cons of this idea. Another example is that you may find numerous positive
statements about your organizations’ commitment to diversity and inclusion but
find boards and executive teams remain fairly homogeneous. If this is the case
for the organizations your cohort chooses to examine then you’ll want to
consider as a group the likely reasons and possible implications. These are
just two examples of possible patterns you may find. There will be others. The
idea is to leverage the cohort’s research to enable you to demonstrate the
critical thinking skills you practiced in AMBA 610 and will want to continue
developing throughout this MBA program.
