Human Resource Management Leadership Paper and Presentation
Paper
1. This is my topic ‘ emotional intelligence’.
2. The paper is to be a review of the leadership topic; including, but not limited to, origin,
principles, current relevance, pros and cons, use in the
tourism/hospitality/foodservice/healthcare/wellness industry.
a. Sources – can use one book source, one website (must be a professional site, not a blog,
etc.), journal articles including credible business/industry journals.
b. The paper should have three sections:
i. Introduction to the leadership theory/principle
ii. Literature Review including definition and principles, pros and cons
iii. Use in hospitality and current relevance overall.
3. The paper to be written in APA format – Times New Roman 12pt, Double spaced, References at
the end of the paper. Paper is to be a minimum 3 pages, not including the title page and
reference page(s).

a. Paper is worth 100 points
i. Content – 70 points
1. Introduction – 20 points
2. Literature Review – 30 points
3. Use in hospitality and current relevance -10 points
ii. Reference Page – 20 points
1. Met reference requirements – 10 points
2. Correct APA format for references – 10 points
iii. Grammar/Spelling/Professionalism – 10 points
1. Spelling and grammar – 5 points
2. Professional language/formatting – 5 points
5. Final paper due April 10th and submitted through blackboard.
Presentation
The presentation will be a group presentation training your audience on the principles of the leadership
theory. Group assignments are listed on blackboard.

The training presentation will be 10-20 minutes in length
All members of the group must participate in the presentation.
An interactive activity must be incorporated into the presentation
An evaluation of the presentation must be given to your student peers to complete.
A blackboard submission of the presentation must include:
a. The visuals used during the presentation
b. A summary of the evaluations
c. Each member must submit a 1 page critique of the presentation including an evaluation
of how each member excelled and how each member struggled during this project. The
goal is for you to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your peers and communicate
those in written form.
6. Grading
a. Presentation is worth 100 pts
i. Presentation – 75 points
1. Visuals – 25 points
2. Oral Delivery – 25 pts
3. Interactive Activity – 25 pts
ii. Evaluations/Summary – 10 pts
iii. Critique – 15 pts
