Students are required to form a group of FIVE (5)members. Lecturer’s approval must be
obtained if there is any change in the number of students due to withdrawal
from the course.
The purpose of this group assignment is to examine local and
international financial institutions operations which serve as market
intermediaries in financial systems.
Instructions:
[Each assignment group is required to select ONE (1) listed (SMEs) in Malaysia fromthe registered companies listed with SME
Corporation Malaysia] and submit the choice (with
details of group member’s names and tutorial class number) to the tutor latest
on 09 June 2016 (Thursday) before 12 noon for acceptance. Each
group is not allowed to select the same companywhich
had been chosen by other group in each tutorial class.
Consider yourself working as a Financial Consultant and you have a client (the owner’s of one Small Medium
Enterprise) (SMEs) who is interested and plan to expend their business
internationally. Assist your client to achieve their goal to expend
their business, and give recommendation to your client on how they able to
get financial loan from financial institution and also the risk and return of
it.
Your report
should include the analysis and commenton the selected SMEs financial
position and performance. You are also required to make a recommendation to your client with
sufficient reasons on your finalrecommendation.
Required:
(a) Background information
on the company. (Describethe SMEs Company’ primary businessactivities
in addition to providing information regarding thehistory of the company)

Industry analysis. (Using
Porter’s five competitive forces to determine industry profitability)
(7 marks)
(c)
An assessment on the
management of the SMEs Company. (eg: leadership, operation etc)
(8 marks)
(d) Study on any incentives provides by Ministry, Authority or
Association/Union that suit with your client goal and needs.

International: Shanghai Pilot
Free Trade, Tariff, Quota, etc

Analyze
the financial position and performance of the selected SMEs (base onyour finding above (a-c). Give your comment and advise your
client. (Students are expected to give a
critical review on the findings obtained in parts (a-d) above. (15 Marks)
(f)
Analyze and compare the types
of loan/scheme offered by any financial Institutions (at least TWO). You are also required to make a recommendation
which is the best loan/scheme to your client with sufficient reasons on your
finalrecommendation. (25 marks)

Students are
expected to do independent learning and additional readings to complement the
continuous assessment. Students are to keep up-to-date with current events by

The group assignment is due on Monday, 25 July 2016, before or at 12 noon (Week 9) to
respective tutor with NO Exceptions. (Please read Late Submission Penalty
Clause in the Unit Plan).
Submission in form of hard copy (excluded journals/appendix) and
soft copy (included journals/appendix).
Any assignment groups that are caught plagiarising or letting part
or whole of their work to be plagiarised will be penalised, with all the
groups involved be awarded ZERO (0) mark for the assignment.
