This is a 2-3 page paper. There are no extra points for writing more. You will lose points for more than 4 pages in length, excluding the Title Page and References page. Edit your document to stay within the page length requirement. It is not quantity but rather quality that adds points. Quantity is often only repetitive information or irrelevant information that does not answer the question. Demonstrate learning that is relevant to answering the required questions. Always provide examples.

HINT: This paper is not a discussion of leadership and management as a broad topic. It is about the aspects of the human side of management. The human side of management means primarily: “How should managers, in their Directing function (not the planning, organizing or controlling function) treat employees like human beings. Write in third person, do not use “I” or “My” statements. Support your answers with sources using APA formatting.

HINT #2: Examples must be provided to show learning and understanding. Do not make general statements without providing examples. Three (3) examples is a good rule of thumb. For instance, do not say employees must be motivated by leaders in order to be inspired and invest themselves in the goals and objectives of the organization. Give examples like Herzberg theory of motivation, Maslow, Expectancy theory, or other motivational theories discussed in Chapter 7.3 of the text.

Paraphrase and cite more heavily from the eResource text. You need several text references, However, you also need at least one (1) external source for question #2. The external reference(s) should be from the web, or the Library. Don’t forget to put page numbers (or paragraph numbers in the absence of page numbers) in the in-text citations; not in the reference listing. See the Short Paper #2 Grading Rubric to see how you will be graded.

Write in paragraph format only. Do not insert tables, graphs, websites, numbered listings, bullets, or anything else. Use Times New Roman Font and a 12 Pitch throughout your paper, including the Title Page.

Double space and provide a paragraph after every 6-8 lines or so for ease of reading. Double space after a paragraph.

Write in third person and support all of your arguments/positions with sources using APA formatting.

TITLE PAGE

Title Page: Although some of your designs are very pretty, a title page is not a cover page so do not design it. A plain sheet of paper is sufficient with no large font, bolding, or graphics.

The title page should contain the title of the paper, the author’s name, and the institutional affiliation(). This information is centered in the middle of the page. Include the page header flush left with the page number flush right at the top of the page. The “header” feature in Word should be used to create the page header. Please note that on the title page, your Running head should look like this:

Running head: TITLE OF YOUR PAPER (The title goes on one line and is limited to 50 characters and is typed in upper case). Also, the title in the page header and on the title page are the same.
Pages after the title page should have a page header that looks like this:
TITLE OF YOUR PAPER (The words Running head are deleted)

YOUR PAPER SHOULD CONTAIN:

A running head to include page numbers, title page, introduction, body, summary and a reference listing on a separate sheet at the end of your paper. Margins are 1” around. Do not provide an abstract)

*** In the body of your paper, type the following 2 questions in italics and then type your answer after each question.

1.Identify at least three aspects of the human side of management and leadership from the readings. (Provide text references for each aspect including the page number in the in-text citation). You do not need a web or Library reference for this question.
