Activity Instruction
Working effectively and efficiently as part of a team can be challenging. But when done properly, teamwork offers many benefits as different people bring their experience, education, knowledge, and skills to resolve a problem. The ability to work with others and collaborate in teams is an important skill in the world today. It is likely that, as a business professional, you will be called upon to work as a valuable member in an onsite or virtual team. The course project provides a practice environment in which you can build your collaborative and leadership skills.
For this discussion, address the following:
- What experience (if any) have you had in working as part of a team?
- What aspects of the experience were positive?
- What aspects of the experience were negative?
- What tips or best practices from your experience or from your readings can you offer that you believe can be used to make the team experience in this course a positive one?
Be sure to read Johnson’s 2010 article, “Four Steps to Effective Collaboration,” before you post your initial response to this discussion.

Activity Instructions
Read the MBA Capstone Project Guidelines document, paying careful attention to the template and example of a proposal located in Appendix A. In your post, describe what you think may be a viable capstone project for you. You may use the template from Appendix A of the document to organize your thoughts. Include the following in your post:
- A brief description of the business you are choosing.
- A description of your project and expected outcome (recommendations, business plan with next steps, and so on).
- Your reason for choosing this project.
Remember to consider the scalability of your project. For example, you may wish to write about Barnes & Noble, but that would require hundreds of pages. However, you could choose to focus on how Barnes & Noble has managed to survive the Internet age when borders crumbled. Use this opportunity to gain valuable feedback from your peers and instructor on focusing your project. Keep in mind that your capstone project must result in evidence-based recommendations, takeaways, or next steps.

- Is the goal of the project apparent?
