You are asked to analyze, evaluate and critique the various counseling theories/approaches covered in your textbook. Please do not simply summarize each theory or simply quote the authors. Rather, evaluate and critique the theory’s view of human nature, its key concepts, the therapeutic process it lays out and the techniques and procedures it applies. Identify with rationale, aspects of each theory/approach you tend to incorporate into your own developing philosophical and applied approach to counseling. This paper should not be opinion based, you must demonstrate sufficient research and ability to apply the research as a counselor. Instructions Reaction papers are worth a total 70% toward your final grade (Please refer to course syllabus for breakdown). You are required to complete 3 (three) reaction papers worth 100 points each. Each reaction paper will be 4 pages in length (typed and double-spaced) in proper APA format (see below for additional detail). These papers should be submitted to your instructor via Blackboard no later than Sunday night, 11:59 PM in Units 1-7 and Friday at 11: 59 PM EST in Unit 8 (see Class Schedule for additional information). Papers not submitted on time will have 5 points deducted per day late. Paper 1: Will focus on the theories covered in units 1, 2 and 3. Paper 2: Will focus on the theories covered in units 4 and 5. Paper 3: Will focus on the theories covered in units 6 and 7. You may want your paper to emphasize one of the theories over the others because it is particularly meaningful or relevant to your goals as a counselor. This is acceptable, provided that you still address all theories dedicating at least one page to each theory within your paper. The paper must be in APA 6th edition format. All papers need a title page, body (at least 4 full pages) and reference section all in APA style. Please use complete sentences, appropriate grammar, spelling, and references. You will also be required to use in-text references in your work in accordance with APA style to avoid plagiarism. Information to help with your writing is provided under the APA resources section of the course information tab. Please be sure to avoid using Internet sources such as Wikipedia or other web-based resources that do not have strong academic backing. Plagiarism detection software will be used to scan each paper and any paper that is determined to have academic integrity issues will earn a score of 0 automatically and possibly additional sanctions.
