The researchers investigate the flow in predicting the success of system application and products (SAP) projects from a sample of 109 SAP professionals. Flow is defined as the behavioral state of optimal human experience. Basic strategic thinking was used measuring strength, opportunities, aspirations and results (SOAR) explaining the motivation and impact on project success.
The study included a cross-sectional survey design to test two hypotheses pertaining to the relationship with flow, project success, SOAR and motivation. The study included 68% of all participants were men ranging in age from 29-77 years of age. Survey Monkey, an internet based tool was the tool used to capture results. To be eligible to participate in the study, the participants had to have participated in at least one SAP project in the past five years.
Recommendations are made based on the result of the study to include the importance of go through flow as the central elements when endorsing the ideal experience. The study supports the promoting of worker positivity, creativity, improved project success rate and increased worker capacity in system integration projects. The study is limited when the decision was made to study only SAP projects. The sample size of the study also was limited.
