The emphasis of this module has been on looking ahead and anticipating how marketing will react to and anticipate the challenges that it will face in the future. As the title of the module suggests, the world is changing. Therefore, the practices that may have been successful and acceptable yesterday are not guaranteed the same results tomorrow.

This week you begin another two-week cycle in which you explore the environment in which marketing will take place in the future. You will take a look at the general operating environment for marketing. In particular, you will take a look at the political, economic and technological factors that will shape the face of commerce and, in turn, marketing in the future.

This week you explored some of the potential implications for the marketing of changes in the greater macro environment. Whilst the future is uncertain, businesses can prepare for the future by looking at current trends.
