22 22 unread replies. 73 73 replies.

Throughout this course, each module will contain a “Leader’s Self-Insight(s)” activity. Your Daft textbook contains the self-insight activities and the module sections associated with this activity provide the page numbers needed. To complete this exercise, compose each of the self-insight activities using a Microsoft Word document. Attach your document in the discussion and comment on two or more of your peers’ posts. It is recommended that you attach your self-insight summaries as early in the module week as possible, and then come back several days later to respond to your peers.

lead_def.jpgLeader’s Self-Insights are tools of discovery designed to help you uncover your own style and preferences regarding leadership, management, and entrepreneurship. The more honestly you answer the questions, the more you will understand your potential as a leader.

1.2: Your Leadership Potential p. 16

2.2: What’s Your Leadership Orientation? p. 47

3.2: Discuss you thoughts about Drew Dudley’s call on all of us to celebrate leadership as the everyday act of imporving each other’s lives.

Remember to use a MS Word document when completing this activity. Your Leader’s Self-Insights should be several paragraphs in length, grammatically sound and free of spelling errors. An example has been provided as a guide when you begin this activity process. If you need to refer to this document again, you can find it in the Course Specific Resources.

These activities are graded. Please read these instructions for information on accessing the discussion rubric.

As early in the week as possible, post your self-insight summaries in the discussion, and then come back several days later to respond to at lease two of your peers.

After reading the chapter in the Daft textbook, answer the discussion questions listed below. Your responses and comments should demonstrate an understanding of the topics and theories presented in the chapter. Be sure to post appropriate, insightful, and informative statements as well as accurately integrate the conceptual material from the textbook and modules in your discussion.

Leadership Crosstalk Discussion:

Why do you think there are so few people who succeed at both management and leadership? Is it reasonable to believe someone can be good at both?

Describe the “best” leader you have ever known. How did this leader acquire his or her capability?

Go to p. 27 in your Daft textbook, and read the Leadership at Work” Leader Right-Wrong exercise at the bottom of the page. Then post and describe, “What the leader was doing wrong for you?” in the discussion.

Review Exhibit 2.6 p. 52 and provide an example of when you witnessed a leader working with in-group team members and/or out-group team members. What should have the leader done (if anything) differently?
