Ethics play a vital role in how a company is managed. They are used as a basic
guideline to determine what is right and wrong, fair and unfair. Unlike laws which are
rules and are not meant to be broken, ethics have some leniency and come from
underlying values from each personal experience. Ethical behavior is mostly taught to
help people become effective leaders of an organization and in their personal lives . This
paper will discuss in detail how the Jung Typology Test plays an important role in
decision making and how the ethics approach based on MBTI is effective in my
personal and professional life.
MBTI Type
The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) personality inventory is to
make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in
people’s lives (MBTI, 2016). The Jung Typology test revealed that I am Introvert, Intuitive,
Thinking, and Judging, respectively. I must say that the analysis was accurate in its assessment.
My personality has not changed very much throughout the years. I find myself to be a creature
of habit. To outsiders, I may project an aura of self-confidence. This confidence can be
mistaken as arrogance. I am known to be a perfectionist, improving upon anything that takes my
interest. I am also an advocate of building systems and processes that displays my imagination
and reliability. The disadvantages of being of an INTJ is that I am an extremely private person and is
often passive which makes it easy for me to be misunderstand. My strongest INTJ assets in the 3
interpersonal area are my intuitive abilities and willingness to work with others. Per the test
results, I am robust, stable, and a good communicator. Although, I am willing to work with
others, solitude is my best friend, as I am able to think and manage my days more effectively
working alone. The judging portion was a little high. Perhaps, the testing is revealing aspects
about myself that I am unaware of. Although slightly flawed, I feel that this test was a great
representation of a basic guideline to my personality type. Ethics approach based on MBTI
As previously discussed, the Jung Typology testing determined that I am more “Intuition
Feeling”. Based on these results I am more apt to handling dilemmas by making light of complex
situations and seeking the good for others. This is definitely characteristics that are true to my
personality type. I do not work well in stressful work environments and I hate tension. While
some workplace stress is normal, excessive stress can interfere with your productivity and impact
your physical and emotional health (HelpGuide.org). (URL’s are not acceptable as citations or

becomes a problem and work performance is affected.
Theory explanation and application
Kerns argues that one should, “identify what the competing ethical values are so that
[one] will be able to weigh one against the other,” (2011). There will always be challenges, but
with education and preparation, I will be able to successfully resolve problems using an ethical
approach. To apply the theory, I must make decisions subjectively. Each decision will be
determined on a case by case basis. I will work with individuals based on past encounters and
records. If I have an employee who is rarely late for work, I will not give them the same 4
reprimand that I would give an employee that is repeatedly late for work. Rules will not be a
“one size fits all”. That is the beauty of making ethical decisions. They can be revised depending
on the situation. In retrospect, there is also a thin line between leniency and favoritism, so to
keep things fair I will make every effort to keep notes on all encounters in the case there is a
dilemma in the near future.
Leadership in another culture
In order to lead in another culture, I must first educate myself on that particular culture to
gain an understanding of what is expected. I know in some cultures being a woman comes with
its own challenges in itself. Knowing this, I will have to adapt to that culture’s ways of thinking
n my actions and ways thinking to coincide with my values so that I am true to myself and I am a
great representation of the company, its mission statement, and the culture in which I am in.
[What country? This is incomplete] Conclusion
Ethics are an important aspect, not only in one’s personal life, but also in professional
life. Knowing how to strategically resolve problems will help one to become a leader that is well
respected by others. Challenges will always exist, with the right mindset, hard work, dedication,
and determination, issues can be resolved. 5
