At the end of Chapter 6 in your Daft textbook, read the Leadership at Work: Scary Person exercise. Then, in real life, do it! Reach out to a scary person (or situation) in your life. This could be a classmate, coworker, boss, or anyone. Choose someone that you have been hesitant to approach, purposely avoiding, or someone that make you feel intimidated. Make it a “real” experience, not just a quick hello or short meaningless conversation. By working through your fear, you will receive the full impact and success of this exercise and broaden your life’s path. Note: If you believe this exercise is silly and side step it, you may have let fear get the better of you by inappropriately rationalizing that the assignment has little value.
- Were you able to reach out to the other person or overcome your fear of a situation?
- What did you learn about the other person?
- What did you learn about yourself?
Post your responses to below early in the module week. Your responses should be a minimum of 300 words, grammatically sound, and free of spelling errors. Review your peers’ responses and comment on two posts that particularly interest to you.
