Research Project: Students will work in teams to document a nonprofit-related theme.
The nonprofit selected is Rotary (found at www.rotary.org) Topics mentioned explicitly in the text are valid, but other
themes may also be allowed. The paper normally takes 8-12 1.5-spaced pages, well researched.
Documented (use APA style, newest edition; for an online summary, visit:
owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/). This will require you to use resources outside of class
and textbook; you must interview at least one “insider” and at least one “customer” of the nonprofit
organization
Research Presentations should include: (a) a well-researched and referenced description of the
organization and its roots; (b) why it is important, including relevant, critical performance measures
comparing it to its “competitors;” (c) what are the strengths and weaknesses; and (d) what you, as a
team, think that should be done in the near future to improve the status quo (about 25 pts each
section). Include a transcript of your interviews in the appendix. Teams will prepare a 15-20-minute
presentation on the report above. This presentation must show in-depth knowledge of the firm, and
must make use of available technology. I expected to participate making constructive, relevant questions
and suggestions.
