Marking Criteria Topic: The distinctive characteristics of HRM policies and practices of American MNEs (or Japanese MNEs) In this essay, you are required to answer the following questions: What are the main characteristics of HR system (including key functions such as recruitment, selection, performance appraisal, remuneration, training and development, etc.) of American MNEs (or Japanese MNEs), defined by their distinctive national business system?
Find at least 5 academic (peer-reviewed) journal articles, which address the topic.
Academic journal articles should be used.
Websites and trade journals are not required in this short paper, and should not be used in place of the required 5 academic journal articles.
Your essay must meet this threshold requirement to pass this assignment – essays that do now draw upon research from 5 academic journal articles will not be accepted or marked.
Length Approximately 2,000 words not counting your references.

Include a title page, an abstract, an introduction, followed by your answer to the questions with supporting reasons and in-text references, your conclusion and references. Headings may be used in this Short Paper.
The Short Paper should be 1.5 line spaced and presented in A4 format with margins of at least 25mm on all sides.
Use the Harvard referencing system – that is, use author’s last name and date for in-text citations (with page number for direct quotes), and make sure your reference list is formatted in alphabetical order of authors’ last names.
